CHURCH ON A MISSION
"So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Galatians 6:10).
At HOFGP we strive to obey Jesus' commands to love one another and to make disciples (John 15:12 ; Matthew 28:19-20). Our mission is to be ambassadors for Christ wherever we are. We desire God's grace to turn our homes into places of hospitality and ministry, where we serve as missionaries of the gospel. The following statements describe our essential ministry goals.
In all we do:
1. We will strive to be people of prayer.
2. We will strive to be people of the Word.
3. We will strive to be people serious about evangelism and world mission.
4. We will strive to live in fellowship with one another.
5. We will strive to uphold a thoroughly biblical worldview as communicated from the Holy Scriptures, and reject any unscriptural religions, philosophies or systems of thought that seek to raise man above God.
6. We will strive to be good citizens under the authority of human government as
established by God for the protection of the righteous and the punishment of evil-doers.
7. We will strive to teach our members to assume the primary responsibility for the education of their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
PRODUCTIVE FELLOWSHIP (Blessing the Body)
“And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful” (Titus 3:14).
We all have projects hanging over us that need to be tackled. At HOFGP, instead of doing these jobs on our own, we encourage our members to work with one another. Yard work, spring cleaning, painting, remodeling, building projects, landscaping, or moving parties, can all be accomplished together as the body of Christ, in the spirit of the old fashioned barn raisings and quilting bees.
All ages can learn valuable work skills and make new friends while getting the work done. Work parties should be roughly three-fourths “work” and one-fourth “party.” Hosts are asked to provide a generous lunch during a break or after the work is completed. Have lunch, make music and enjoy a time of family-inclusive recreation. To schedule a “work party” for any church member in need of help contact a Deacon prior to your desired date so that your event can be listed in our bulletin and on our Church Calendar.
